Recital News and Times and Days Classes will Dance

Recital will be at the Woodside Performing Arts Center, Churchill Ave. cross street Woodside Road

Show Times:
Saturday, June 14th 1:00, 3:00, 5:00
Sunday, June 15th 1:00, 3:00, 5:00

See below for day and time students will dance in shows. Regular classes through Friday, June 13th.

Each class performs in one show on one day. There are no extra rehearsals for Open House Recital. Mommy & Me's (2 years) classes will not perform. Please come and watch.

Doors open to theater and back stage ½ hour before show time. Please do not arrive at the theater too early. The shows start ON TIME and we ask that the audience be in their seats for the opening number. When entering and exiting to pick up children PLEASE go in and out between dances. It is impolite to disturb people and the performers on the stage while the dance is going on. Use only the back theater doors, the side doors are not opened during shows.

The shows have no intermission. Students in the first 10 numbers should be back stage 15 minutes before the start of the show. Each class has a parent or two in charge of the group. Take your child to the parent in charge waiting for you in the dressing rooms. After leaving your child backstage, please return to the theater to enjoy the show. Their teacher will meet them backstage with the parent in charge and escort the children on and off the stage. The parent in charge will stay with the children and watch them perform in the wings. When they have finished dancing, the parent will escort them to the dressing rooms for parent pick up. Please pick up your child when they are done dancing, NOT AT THE END OF THE SHOW! After you have picked up your child, take them back into the theater so that they may enjoy the other dances. Students performing after the first 10 numbers will sit in the audience with their parents until it is their time to dance. Dancers will need a ticket to sit in the theater, unless they wish to sit on their parents lap, at no charge. REMEMBER: PERFORMING STUDENTS IN THE FIRST 10 NUMBERS SHOULD BE BACK STAGE BEFORE THE START OF THE SHOW!

Show Running Order will be posted at the Main Studio and the Loft in late May. Please check to see where in the show your child will be dancing. Programs on the day of the show also list the dances by number. Parents are responsible for taking their children backstage 5 numbers before their dance if they are not in the first 10 numbers. Students in more than one number stay backstage to prepare for their next dance. They will need their parent with them backstage at this time; the parent will take them to the next group parent. A mother in charge of a group is not responsible to deliver a student to their next dance. Please follow the numbered program for show running order.

Some classes will have small costume parts, i.e., crowns, ears, hats, etc. Your teacher will inform you if you need any extra costume parts beside your class dance attire.

Tickets -- ALL GENERAL SEATING! Adults $15.00, Child/Senior $10.00. Performing students will need a ticket to sit in the theater, unless they are on a parents lap. Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 17th at the Main Studio. 10:00am-1:00pm. Tickets will be on sale in the office Monday through Friday from 2:30-5:30 and Saturday from 9:00-1:00. NO REFUNDS!

Tickets may be exchanged for different shows. There are 6 shows, so be sure you purchase the correct tickets. Tickets are also sold at the door before performance times, if still available.

Video Taping —The shows will be professionally taped and copies will be available for your purchase. DVD's are by “Videos By Jeff”. Cost will be $30 per DVD, or two shows for $55. Order forms will be available in the office and at the theater. DVD's may be ordered through the last Sunday show. Flash Photography is not allowed in the theatre. It is a hazard and a distraction to the dancers. You may use a camera with a no-flash mode only.

Please remember a few rules – NO eating or gum chewing in the theater . NO jewelry on stage, please leave it at home as we cannot be responsible for watching purses and valuables. Hair should be neat and styled according to the teachers directions. Light make up, using lip stick and blush may be used by the dancers. Check with the teacher about your attire, tights, socks, etc. NO STROLLERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE THEATER!! Audience members and dancers will only be allowed to enter and exit the theatre during the applause i.e. in between dances. This is out of consideration for the performers and other audience members.

Five and Ten Year Achievement Awards —If you are to receive an award, please come back stage toward the end of your show. A signup sheet for awards is posted on the office door, or you may call the office. Be sure to sign up and indicate which show you will be receiving your award. Not having your name called on stage can be very disappointing.

Fundraiser's—Studio tee-shirts, flowers and gifts will be for sale in the lobby at the recital. The money is used to sponsor the competition team to attend the national Dance Competition Finals in Las Vegas in June. Please help support our team!

Volunteers are needed to act as ushers, pass out programs, etc. Sign up in the office if you can assist. Please call the office at 323-5292 if you have any questions.

Calendar Reminders : Summer School -- 6 weeks, July 7th -August 16th . Schedules are in the office, at the loft or on line at MPAOD.com. New fun classes this summer, Ballroom, Musical Theatre, Tumbling… come and try something new!

No Spring Breaks- the only holiday the Studio will be closed for will be Memorial Day, May 26th . SCHOOL YEAR WILL START SEPTEMBER 3rd . Auditions for ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas will be Sunday, September 7th , mark your calendar.
